CARNIVAL CAMP:
Thirty scouts attended the Carnival Camp at the Boathouse from Friday afternoon,
February 12 to Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010.

CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Sixty three scouts attended the Christmas camp at Pt. Gourde from Sunday December 13
to
Wednesday December 16, 2009

ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:
The annual SocaParang fundraiser was held at the St John's Centre,
Woodbrook, Port of Spain on Sunday November 22, 2009. The event
was a huge success.

HOCHOY FLAG COMPETITION:
A patrol of venture scouts led by Njere Edwards
which included Anderson Thompson, Antonio Emmanuel, Edward Mootoo, Justin
Audroing and Keeshan Ramkissoon took part in the National Scout Association's
Hochoy Flag Competition from October 31st to November 1st. The patrol placed
first in the competition and completed tasks such as backwoodsman cooking,
orienteering, public speaking and planning events.

14th CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE (CARIBJAM 2009):
The 14th Caribbean Jamboree
“CARIBJAM,”
was held
held in Georgetown, Guyana
from August 6 - 14,
2009. The following scouts attended: Justin Audroing, Christian Chee
Foon, Aishwar Kalloo, Corri Latapy, Nick Lee Lum, Fernando and Romario Lopez, Edward Mootoo, Marcus Moses, Keeshan
Ramkissoon, Troy Sammy and Kester Wade. The group was
led by Mikhail Woodruffe.
The event was a
success with scouts making
international friendships and engaging in various scouting, sporting and
cultural activities. Apart from
Trinidad & Tobago there
were groups
from Barbados, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Jamaica
and St. Vincent and the
Grenadines.
Scouts took part in daily off-site activities including visits to factories, a
Water Park, Community Service and
shopping in the city. They also participated in a Route
March, Sports Festival, Global Development Village, Campfire and nightly
cultural shows. The group returned on 18th August, 2009.

JULY CAMP:
Fifty eight scouts attended the
July camp at Pt. Gourde from Sunday July 5 to Wednesday July
8, 2009.

ANNUAL BARBECUE: The annual fund raising Barbecue
was successfully held on Saturday June 13, 2009 at St. Mary's College.

CORPUS CHRISTI PARADE:
On Thursday June 11th, 2009 (Corpus Christi) twenty seven scouts took
part in the parade around Independence Square.

SIR JOHN CHANCELLOR FLAG COMPETITION:
A patrol led by Romario Lopez which included Andrew Agard, Jaevan Burke, Christian
Chee Foon, Aaron Douen,
Jean-Luc Duval, Hugh Hoford and Jarryon Paul took part in the Chancellor flag
competition which was held from May 22 to May 24, 2009.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
The annual Investiture ceremony was held at the Boathouse on Sunday
May 17th, 2009. The following nineteen recruits were invested:

Peter, Richard Tom Pack, Stephen Chan Wah, Chad Clarke-Koon How, Kyle
Johnson,

LIFEGUARD DUTIES - BLANCHISSEUSE BEACH:
Forty scouts provided lifeguard services for the children of the orphanage
during their annual outing to Blanchisseuse Beach on Sunday May 3rd, 2009.
Many of the parents also made the journey and assisted in entertaining the
children.

EASTER CAMP:
Forty scouts and recruits attended the Easter camp at Pt Gourde from April 4th to April 7th, 2009.

BEACH CLEANUP:
On Sunday March 1st, 2009 forty eight
scouts along with a number of parents assisted in cleaning Matura Beach
prior to the start of the leatherback turtle nesting season. The scouts formed
two teams and entered the sand turtle building competition which was held
after the cleanup. The teams placed first and second.

CARNIVAL CAMP:
Seventeen scouts attended a camp at the Boathouse over the Carnival
weekend (February 21-23, 2009).

CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Fifty two scouts attended Christmas camp at Pt Gourde from Sunday December 14, 2008 to
Wednesday December 17, 2008.

ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:
The annual SocaParang fundraiser was held at the St John's Centre,
Woodbrook, Port of Spain on Sunday November 23, 2008. The event was a success.
Patrons were entertained by the choir, Silver Stars Steelband, the two Parang bands Los Parranderos de UWI and
Los Alumnos de San Juan along with soca artiste Skatie. MC Glen Davis kept the
crowd entertained between performers. Four persons also won door prizes.

HI-SIERRA INTERNATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE:
The Hi-Sierra International Scout
Rendezvous
was held at Camp Hi-Sierra in the Western Sierra Nevada mountains of
California, USA from August 10-16, 2008. The Rendezvous held every two years is a mini world
Jamboree with participants from many different countries. First Trinidad Sea
Scouts was represented at this Jamboree for the third time, having
attended in 2000 and again in 2002.
The following scouts attended: Che Perez, Justin Hay, Justin Audroing,
Aaron Douen, Njere Edwards, Antonio Emmanuel, Daryl Francis-Lau, Francois
Harewood, Alonso Hernandez, Hugh Hoford, Aishwar Kalloo, Corri Latapy, Kevan
Lee Lum, Romario Lopez, Kieran Nichols, Jean-Marc Pierre, Keeshan Ramkissoon,
Shaquille Simpson
and Jonathan Wilson. The group left Trinidad on August 4th and returned on
August 20th. They spent the days before and after the Jamboree at the homes of
scouts parents in San Jose and went sight seeing and attended various events
in the area.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO ISSUE STAMPS TO MARK SCOUTING
CENTENARY:
Trinidad & Tobago Postal Service (TTPost)
issued postage stamps in four denominations to mark the centenary of scouting.
The stamps feature scouts and scout leaders and on the official first day
cover envelope is a photograph of members of First Trinidad Sea Scouts at the
World Jamboree in England in August 2007. A photo of

4th ANNUAL WILLIAM I KOCH INTERNATIONAL SEA SCOUT CUP:
David Milne and Che Perez represented Trinidad & Tobago and our troop at the Fourth
Annual William I Koch International Sea Scout Cup
from July 13-19, 2008. This
youth sailing regatta is open to young men and women between the ages of 14
and 21. The five-day
event was held at the Naval Academy’s Sailing Centre in Annapolis,
Maryland, USA. Teams from the United States and a number of other countries including
Australia, Brazil, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, New Zealand
and Sweden competed. David and Che did extremely well, placing 6th overall. In
addition David received an award for
being one of the more helpful participants. In the first three qualifying
races they placed first twice and third once. This put them to race in the top
twenty group where they placed sixth.

10th WORLD SCOUT YOUTH FORUM - SOUTH KOREA:
The 10th World Scout Youth Forum was held in Jeju Island, South Korea
from July 7 to 10, 2008. One of our Assistant Scout Leaders, Mikhail Woodruffe, attended
this conference. The 38th World Scouting Conference was held at the same location from July 14 to18, 2008. Mikhail
also attended this Conference after the Youth Forum.

JULY CAMP:
Camp was held at Pt Gourde from Sunday July 6th, 2008 to Wednesday July
9th, 2008. Fifty two scouts attended the camp.

PRESIDENT AWARD & CHIEF SCOUT AWARD:
Justin Hay received the President Award and Keeshan Ramkissoon the Chief
Scout Award at a ceremony at President's House on June 23, 2008. These awards
are the highest scouting awards in Trinidad & Tobago.

and then around Independence Square.

Seven scouts, all under 15 years, took part in the National Scout Association's
Chancellor flag competition from May 23 to 25, 2008. The Patrol was led by
Jean-Marc Pierre and included
Aishwar Kalloo, Aaron Douen,
Jean-Luc Duval, Christian Lochan, Alonso Hernandez and Jaevan Burke. For the second year in succession
our
patrol placed first in
the Nelson Matthew First Aid Challenge trophy and second in the Chancellor
Flag competition.

EASTER CAMP:
Easter Camp was held at Pt Gourde from Tuesday March 25 to Friday
March 28, 2008. There were 60 scouts at the camp.

GREASE:
The show "Grease" was held at Queen's Hall, Port of Spain on March 22, 2008.
The event was extremely successful. All the tickets for the show were sold.
Two scouts, Edward Mootoo and Corri Latapy, took part in the play..

SCOUTS ACCOMPANY SWIMMERS AROUND GASPAREE ISLAND:
The annual swim race around Gasparee Island was held on Sunday March 9,
2008. To ensure the safety of the swimmers our scouts were asked to provide
six kayakers to accompany the swimmers. Six of our scouts experienced in
handling kayaks accompanied the swimmers.

BEACH CLEAN UP:
Thirty three scouts were at Matura on Sunday February 24, 2008 to assist
in cleaning the beach prior to the start of the leatherback turtle nesting
season. Some of the scouts also took part in the sand turtle building
competition which was held after the clean up. In the children's competition
Andrew Agard placed second and in the competition for teams one of our two
teams in that competition placed second.

CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Seventy two scouts and recruits attended the Christmas camp at Pt. Gourde from Saturday
December 15 to Tuesday December 18, 2007.

SAILBOAT DONATED TO THE TROOP:
The troop received a donation of a 31 foot
Tornado sailboat with a diesel engine, comfortable cabin and a toilet. Mr Ian Serrao contacted the troop and
generously offered to donate the boat. The offer
was, of course, immediately accepted and Mr Serrao was assured that the troop
would make regular use of it. The boat is moored at TTSA.

ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:
"November Parang & Soca Fiesta"
featuring three parang bands and two soca parang singers was held at the
St. John's Centre on Sunday November 18, 2007. The entertainment started at
5:00PM and continued until the function ended at 9:00PM. Over 700 persons
attended.

WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE - 2007:
Fifty one scouts from First Trinidad Sea
Scouts along with two leaders attended the 21st World Scout Jamboree in Essex,
England from July 27 to August 08, 2007. The group arrived in England on Sunday July 22 and
moved to the Jamboree site on July 27 where they set up
camp. They returned to Trinidad on August 11, 2007. The boys spent the days
before and after the Jamboree sightseeing in London. The Trinidad & Tobago
contingent also attended a reception at the Trinidad High Commission in London
hosted by the T&T High Commissioner Mrs Glenda Morean-Phillip. Twenty four
scouts were taught by Parry's pan school, Tacarigua, Trinidad to play the steelpan (Trinidad &
Tobago's national instrument) before the Jamboree and were a hit at the
Jamboree appearing on BBC radio and TV. Below is a photo of them on stage
at the Jamboree.
