LIFEGUARD DUTIES -
BLANCHISSEUSE BEACH:
The troop will provide lifeguard services for children of the orphanage at
their annual beach outing on Sunday May 6, 2012

CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Forty six scouts attended the
Christmas camp at Pt Gourde from December 17 to 20, 2011.
ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:.
The annual socaparang fundraiser was held
at the St John Ambulance Centre, Wrightson Road on Sunday November 20, 2011.
Once again the event was very successful.
HOCHOY FLAG COMPETITION 2011:
A patrol of venture scouts led by Anderson
Thompson
which included Andrew Agard, Mark-Anthony Blackman, Trevin Lewis, Jarryon
Paul, Troy Sammy and Menesheh Tarquini took part in the National Scout Association's Hochoy Flag Competition from October 29th to October 30th, 2011. The patrol
placed first in the competition. First Trinidad Sea Scouts also won this
competition in 2009 but were unable to take part in 2010.
22nd WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE 2011:
Twenty five scouts from 1st Trinidad Sea Scouts
attended the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. The Jamboree was held from
July 27 to August 07, 2011. The scouts spent four days before the Jamboree
sightseeing in Copenhagen, Denmark and fifteen of them went to London,
England for three days after the Jamboree. Nine others went to Madrid, Spain
to attend World Youth Day with Pope Benedict XVI.

JULY CAMP:
Fifty scouts attended the July camp at Pt. Gourde from July 10 to July 13,
2011. Unfortunately the camp was partially spoiled by a couple inconsiderate
fishermen who cleaned their fish catch and dumped the fish heads and entrails
in the bay. This prevented the boys from swimming in the bay. Unfortunately
the laws of this country do not prevent inconsiderate louts from doing things
like this at sea so neither the Coast Guard or police could do anything to
prevent it.
CORPUS CHRISTI PARADE:
On Thursday June 23rd 2011 (Corpus Christi) twenty three
scouts took part in the parade around Independence Square.

ANNUAL FUND RAISING BARBECUE:
The annual fund raising Barbecue was held on Saturday June 18, 2011. The
Barbecue was well patronised.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
Fifteen recruits were invested at the Investiture ceremony on Sunday
June 05, 2011 at the Boathouse. See "Awards.".
NATIONAL SCOUT ASSOCIATION HIKE:
On Saturday May 28, 2011 the following scouts took part in a hike to to
the second highest peak in Trinidad and Tobago:
Takashi Afoon, Kern Chase, Johnathan Girod-Williams, Jarryon Paul, Tigana
Phillips-Braithwaite and Jonathan Wilson. The hike was organised and
supervised by the National Scout Association of Trinidad & Tobago.
LIFEGUARD DUTIES -

orphanage at their annual beach outing on Sunday May 15, 2011.
EASTER CAMP:
Forty four scouts attended the Easter camp at Pt Gourde from Saturday
April 09 to Tuesday April 12, 2011.
BEACH CLEANUP:
Twenty five scouts and a number of parents assisted with the annual clean up of Orosco
Bay, Matura on Sunday March 13, 2011 prior to the start of the leatherback
turtle nesting season.
CARNIVAL CAMP 2011:
Thirty two scouts attended the Carnival camp at the Boathouse from 2:00PM
on Friday March 4, 2011 to 3:00PM on Sunday March 06, 2011.
CAMP:
A camp was held at the Boathouse from Saturday January 22 to Sunday January
23, 2011. Thirty two scouts attended.
CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Sixty two scouts attended the Christmas camp at Pt Gourde
from Sunday December 12th to Wednesday December 15th, 2010.
ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:
The annual SocaParang fundraiser was held on Sunday November 21, 2010.
Over 600 persons attended and enjoyed the food and entertainment. We look
forward to these persons support in the future.
CAMP AT BOATHOUSE:
A two day camp was held at the Boathouse. The camp was
particularly aimed at the new recruits with the intention of teaching them how
to use various camp items so that they will have these skills when we camp
later in the year. More than 30 scouts and recruits attended.
5th ANNUAL WILLIAM I KOCH INTERNATIONAL SEA SCOUT CUP:
Che Perez and Kevan "Nick" Lee Lum represented Trinidad & Tobago and our troop at the Fifth
Annual William I Koch International Sea Scout Cup
from August 1 -7, 2010. This
youth sailing regatta is open to sea scouts between the ages of 14
and 21. The
event was held at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London,
Connecticut, USA. Forty two man teams from the United States and a
number of other countries including Australia, Brazil, Denmark, England,
Finland, Germany, New Zealand and Sweden competed. Che and Nick placed 6th in the qualifying
races. This put them to race in the top
twenty group where they placed ninth.

FIRST AID COURSE:
Eighteen scouts attended an all day First Aid course conducted by the Red Cross on August 04,
2010.
CAMP AT BOATHOUSE:
A camp was held at the Boathouse on
Friday July 23 from 8:00AM to 3:00PM on Saturday July 24, 2010.
During the camp a talk on a career as a marine pilot was given by a marine
pilot and a presentation on marine conservation by the Institute of Marine
Affairs. Apart from this scouts were also taught various skills required
for obtaining their scout standard.
JULY CAMP:
Sixty scouts were attending Camp at Pt Gourde which was to run from Sunday July 4 to Wednesday July 7,
2010 when on Monday July 5 two prisoners escaped by swimming from the prison
island, Carrera, which is just offshore from the campsite. As a result, for
the safety of everyone the Coast Guard removed all the scouts to Coast Guard
Headquarters from where they were transported home. The camp was therefore
abandoned after only two days.
ANNUAL BARBECUE:
The annual fund raising Barbecue was held on Saturday June 19, 2010.
PIONEERING CAMP:
A Pioneering Camp was held at the Boathouse on June 3rd and 4th, 2010.
Sixteen scouts attended.
CORPUS CHRISTI PARADE:
Twenty six scouts took part in the Corpus Christi Mass and parade around
Independence Square on Thursday June 3, 2010.
HIKE TO SAUT D'EAU FROM PARAMIN:
On Sunday May 30, 2010 a number of scouts and parents completed a hike to
and from Saut D'Eau beach and Paramin.
LEATHERBACK TURTLE WATCHING:
Scouts and parents journeyed to Matura Beach on Saturday May 22 to see the
leatherback turtles coming on to the beach to lay. The group, apart from
seeing a number of the giant reptiles laying, were also fortunate to see
hatchlings emerging from the sand.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
Nineteen recruits were invested at the Investiture ceremony at the
Boathouse on Sunday May 02, 2010.
LIFEGUARD DUTIES - BLANCHISSEUSE BEACH:
Approximately 40 scouts provided lifeguard services for the children of the orphanage
during their annual outing to Blanchisseuse Beach on Sunday April 25, 2010.
EASTER CAMP:
Fifty scouts attended the Easter camp at Pt Gourde from Saturday March 27 to Tuesday
March 30, 2010.
BEACH CLEANUP:
On Sunday February 28, 2010 more than fifty scouts from the troop took
part in the annual cleanup at Matura Beach prior to the start of the
leatherback turtle nesting season.
CARNIVAL CAMP:
Thirty scouts attended the Carnival Camp at the Boathouse from Friday afternoon,
February 12 to Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010.
CHRISTMAS CAMP:
Sixty three scouts attended the Christmas camp at Pt. Gourde from Sunday December 13
to
Wednesday December 16, 2009
ANNUAL SOCAPARANG FUNDRAISER:
The annual SocaParang fundraiser was held at the St John's Centre,
Woodbrook, Port of Spain on Sunday November 22, 2009. The event
was a huge success.
HOCHOY FLAG COMPETITION:
A patrol of venture scouts led by Njere Edwards
which included Anderson Thompson, Antonio Emmanuel, Edward Mootoo, Justin
Audroing and Keeshan Ramkissoon took part in the National Scout Association's
Hochoy Flag Competition from October 31st to November 1st, 2009. The patrol placed
first in the competition and completed tasks such as backwoodsman cooking,
orienteering, public speaking and planning events.

14th CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE (CARIBJAM 2009):
The 14th Caribbean Jamboree
“CARIBJAM,”
was held
held in Georgetown, Guyana
from August 6 - 14,
2009. The following scouts attended: Justin Audroing, Christian Chee
Foon, Aishwar Kalloo, Corri Latapy, Nick Lee Lum, Fernando and Romario Lopez, Edward Mootoo, Marcus Moses, Keeshan
Ramkissoon, Troy Sammy and Kester Wade. The group was
led by Mikhail Woodruffe.
The event was a
success with scouts making
international friendships and engaging in various scouting, sporting and
cultural activities. Apart from
Trinidad & Tobago there
were groups
from Barbados, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Jamaica
and St. Vincent and the
Grenadines.
Scouts took part in daily off-site activities including visits to factories, a
Water Park, Community Service and
shopping in the city. They also participated in a Route
March, Sports Festival, Global Development Village, Campfire and nightly
cultural shows. The group returned on 18th August, 2009.

8, 2009.
SIR JOHN CHANCELLOR FLAG COMPETITION:
A patrol led by Romario Lopez which included Andrew Agard, Jaevan Burke, Christian
Chee Foon, Aaron Douen,
Jean-Luc Duval, Hugh Hoford and Jarryon Paul took part in the Chancellor flag
competition which was held from May 22 to May 24, 2009.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
The annual Investiture ceremony was held at the Boathouse on Sunday
May 17th, 2009. The following nineteen recruits were invested:
Justin Bodden, Keshaun Braithwaite, Jivan Chee Foon, Joshua Peter, Richard Tom Pack, Stephen Chan Wah, Chad Clarke-Koon How, Kyle Johnson,
